Nadia and Carol
Nadia Comaneci is a Romanian gymnast (born 12 November 1961 at Gheorghe Gheorghiu Dej (now Onesti] Romania). She was the first gymnast to score a perfect 10 during an Olympic celebration. Bela Karrolyi was the Romanian gymnastics trainer who would become Comaneci's coach later in life, discovered her at age six. First competing in the championships for juniors from Romania in 1969, she was 13th. And in 1970, was crowned champion. In her 1972 first international event in an preolympics junior event that was open to countries of the communist bloc, she took home three gold medals. Then in 1973 and 1975, she won named the all-around Junior Champion. When she made her debut as a Senior in 1975, she beat Russian Lyudmila Turkishcheva. She was the five-time European champion who won four golds and a silver.
