Laura Linney, best known for her strong but weak characters, is among of the most celebrated American actors of the present. Born to a renowned playwright's father but was raised by a single mom who made a living in the field of nursing, she became interested in theatre while working with her father during the summer and eventually pursuing a degree in acting initially at Brown University and then at Juilliard School. Her career began on Broadway soon after graduation, she made her debut on film in just two years, and then on television following a year. In the years since she's been in many films, television productions and stage plays. She has won many awards during her professional career. They include 4 Primetime Emmy Awards, two Golden Globe Awards, three Academy Award Nominations, and five Tony Award Nominations.
